I didn't get to go to Mt. Rainier because it's a national park and dogs are not allowed to hike on the trails. But, mom and dad went on the most beautiful day.
This is part of the Tatoosh mountain range which provides great views of Rainier.
Mt. Rainier at mirror lake.
Plants growing up through snow.
(this may not be weird to some, but to me this was crazy, maybe because i'm from Ohio and this just doesn't happen there)
Mt. Adams in the distance.
Mt. Adams close up.
Imagine turning around 180 degrees. If you did you would see this:
I made it to the top (well, the top of where we were going). Approximately 2000ft and a few sketchy snow passes later Clint decided we need to buy hiking poles.
See the animal tracks across the snow field-they are not animal tracks, they are human tracks. This is was pass that made me really nervous.
The un-zoomed version of the snow pass (top left corner). Now you can see why is was such a crazy endeavor without hiking poles and for Clint without proper shoes on.
Marmot!!
It was a great day. Clint got to show me where he lived for a year of his life (yes, i have seen the infamous trailer) and i completely understand why he loves this mountain so much. One day I will make it to the top with him.
Yippiee!! You guys have a blog too! That's awesome! OMG, I am so jealous! Your whole trip (even though 95% of the time was pretty boring) looked fabulous! Kodiak looked as if he just returned home. I have a feeling you guys will NEVER move back to the mid-west. I really like the Kodiak first-person of the blog. I'm definitely a follower! The view from your place is amazing! Better than the V.A. huh? lol. Keep it comin and I'll do my best to keep ours updated! Miss you guys!
